Seventeen’s Agency Pledges to Protect Artists’ Rights Through Legal Measures

Seventeen Stands Against Cyber Harassment

In an assertive move to safeguard their artists, Pledis Entertainment, the agency representing Seventeen, has announced a stringent legal approach against malicious commenters. This statement, released on Seventeen’s official fan community Weverse on the 17th, marks a decisive step in their commitment to protecting the artists’ rights.

Ongoing Evidence Collection

The agency emphasized the importance of ongoing evidence collection as part of their efforts. They stated, “To protect the rights of Seventeen, we have been continuously gathering evidence against malicious posts about the artists through reports from fans and our monitoring.”

Legal Proceedings Underway

Previously identified offenders, whose identities have been determined in past regular complaints and information leaks, are now awaiting prosecutorial action. Pledis Entertainment mentioned, “We have actively cooperated in investigations to ensure those referred to prosecution receive stern punishments. Additionally, we are working diligently to clear up suspicions in ongoing investigations.”

Broader Monitoring Efforts

Pledis Entertainment is also committed to extensive monitoring efforts beyond domestic boundaries. “This quarter, we have collected evidence through comprehensive monitoring, including overseas social media channels, local communities, and music sites,” the agency stated. These findings have fueled filing legal complaints with investigative authorities.

Combatting Malicious Accounts on X Platform

The agency addressed malicious accounts on X (formerly known as Twitter) that repeatedly posted defamatory content about the artists. “Based on fan tips, we are initiating criminal complaints and civil lawsuits against multiple accounts engaging in derogatory posts and spreading false information,” they said.

Efforts are underway to expedite identifying account holders and facilitate related legal proceedings, including information disclosure requests to courts in the USA and other jurisdictions.

“Despite previous legal actions, the ongoing derogatory attacks against our artists are being taken seriously, and we plan to reinforce our continuous evidence collection and response processes.”

Zero Tolerance Policy

In their closing remarks, Pledis Entertainment reaffirmed a stance of no compromise or settlement. “For acts of slander, ridicule, or defamation against our artists, we will pursue every possible legal means to ensure severe consequences.”

Recently, Seventeen unveiled their 5th studio album Happy Burstday, fortifying their position as a significant force in the music world.
