The Unexpected Sabbatical

In a recent teaser for his appearance, Park shared, with a lighthearted smile, that the term ‘sabbatical’ never escaped his lips. “I never mentioned ‘pause’ or ‘sabbatical,'” he stated. It seems the unpredictable steps of life led him into this unique phase.

Actor Park Jung-min discusses creating an audiobook for his visually impaired father

As the owner of the independent publishing house ‘Muje,’ Park initially embarked on a solo journey. Recently expanding to a two-person operation, he reveals a story of growth and resilience. His recent work, The First Summer, Wanju, penned by novelist Kim Geum-hee, was published right before his TV appearance, prompting him to humorously inquire with bookstores about predicted demands.

“I called up bookstores, cheekily asking, ‘How many copies do you think you’ll need since I’m appearing on ‘You Quiz?’ ” Park shared. His playful yet strategic move reflects both business acumen and a deep-seated dedication to his craft.

Audiobook: A Personal Mission

Park’s initiative, however, transcended business or media ventures. It was personal. “After an accident, my father lost his sight,” he revealed with raw vulnerability. Park described feeling a profound sense of remorse and self-pity, sentiments he struggled with until he found a meaningful way to contribute to his father’s life.

“Feeling ashamed and not liking what I saw of myself, I realized it was time to actively do something for my dad. That revelation is just beginning to unfold,” Park expressed. His journey to find purpose amidst personal tragedy moved many, as he shared his dedication to creating something his father could resonate with.
