In Gyo-jin’s Bold Claim on ‘Radio Star’
On the 4th of October, the fascinating episode of MBC’s Radio Star featured guests such as actors In Gyo-jin and Ji Seung-hyun, singer Taei, and comedian Heo Kyung-hwan.
Kim Gook-jin posed a pointed question to In Gyo-jin, asking if he specializes in playing characters that are “2% lacking.” To which In Gyo-jin humorously responded that he is in fact “90% lacking”.

Listing his past roles, In Gyo-jin explained how he portrayed a trot singer in KBS2’s ‘Homemade Love Story’ who lacked talent, and a husband dependent on his wife in KBS2’s ‘Miss Granny’.
The conversation shifted when Kim Gook-jin inquired about his favorite role. In Gyo-jin credited the drama ‘Baek-hee Returns’, written by debutant Im Sang-chun, for bringing him mainstream attention. In this drama, he played a boastful yet endearing countryside uncle which he claims set the trend ahead of the popular character “Hak’s Uncle” in Netflix’s ‘It’s Okay to Be Not Okay’.
A clip from ‘Baek-hee Returns’ showed him embodying the character “Hong Doo-sik,” relentlessly reciting the memorable line, “Just like that, boom!”.
In Gyo-jin’s heartfelt and humorous anecdote was met with astonishment and amusement from the show’s panel, sparking a conversation about origins and trends in TV characters.
