Dok2, Key Figure in Korean Hip-Hop, Resolves Tax Issue
Dok2 Finalizes Tax Payment
Rapper Dok2 (Lee Joon-kyung) has reportedly settled his outstanding tax debts, amounting to several billion won. Previously listed among high-value defaulters by the National Tax Service, Dok2 has now paid approximately 672 million won in unpaid taxes. This amount includes comprehensive income tax and health insurance contributions.
Past Financial Challenges
Back in 2022, Dok2 was included in the National Tax Service’s list of major and habitual defaulters after failing to pay 300 million won in comprehensive income tax. In 2023, his health insurance payment delinquency, amounting to 22 million won, also surfaced.
A Milestone in Korean Hip-Hop
Dok2 is a pivotal figure in the Korean hip-hop scene. In January 2011, he co-founded the underground hip-hop label Illionaire Records with fellow rapper The Quiett. The inclusion of Beenzino in the label set the stage for a new era in Korean hip-hop history, forming the so-called ‘Illionaire Gang’. The label, however, dissolved in 2020, marking the end of an era.
